So, our house is under contract, we've had all the inspections, and we find out this afternoon if there is anything we are required to fix before it all goes through. Hopefully not! Today a house came onto the market that seems just right! Even down to the exact street I was hoping to live on! So, we go to check it out today at 4:30. Please Lord, show us the right one. We have started packing, and it is surreal. I fluctuate rapidly between being really excited, and really sad. I'm hoping we don't have to be in limbo for too long. It's awfully hard to give up a home you love only to move into a basement and wait for a house that seems right.
Jesus, we trust you!

ONLY HOURS AWAY!!!
PRAISE THE LORD! We are only hours away from our house being under contract! In a twist of crazy fate, last Thursday a couple from San Antonio, TX called us and put in offer on our home! They have to move here August 1st for a job transfer so they don't have time to see the house before they buy it! So, sight unseen, without a realtor, without house showings.... we have a wonderful offer! We have to have three inspections next week, and if we pass them, then we will be out by the middle of August!!!! AAAAH! So, we are crazily looking for a house, and praying that this goes through, and thanking God for his amazing timing! If all goes well, we will be out before school, which has been my daily prayer! Thank you God! Now....if only we could find a house that works for us....

back to work
Today Justin and I are back to work at MVCA. It's a little bit weird to be back here, being back sort of makes Central America feel like it was only a dream.
I've been thinking about something. I am very careful about what i watch on television. We don't have one, but I do watch them occasionally at a hotel, or a friends' house or wherever. And, even though I protect my eyes and ears from violence, vulgarity, etc. I can't escape the American message. Bigger...better...faster....more is better. Take a cooking show...a harmless cooking show. It tells you-you need more dishes, more table cloths, more parties, fancier food. Or TLC...a show about decorating makes you crave a different house. A show about fashion; whatever it is, it always has the same message! YOU NEED THIS. No wonder other countries ask us for money when we visit. Look what they see of us on tv!

We're home!
Hello Everyone! (this is Emily)
sorry this took so long...the hotel we stayed at on July 3rd charged 7 bucks for 15 minutes of internet, and so we didn't use it. And we don't have it at our house...so finally we can tell you that we are all home safely!
I am SO thankful for my life. I'm thankful for my bathroom, and my bed, and my house, and for how relatively small all the Kentucky bugs look comparatively :) I'm thankful for clean water, and hot water, and my washing machine. I have done nothing in my life to deserve being born in the country I was, or to the family that I was. God has been so good to us, and if you can read this...to you too!
We have really had a lot of revelations about the American dream, and how it sucks you in, even when you don't realize it. It has changed what kind of house we are looking for, and how I look at the school I work at.
Here's a REAL day at the school we painted a mural at: (all my educator friends...hold on to your seats.)
Start: 7:30 am... no bus service...walk on the dirt road (possibly brind a machete with you for safety.)
Copy words from a board into a notebook for a while
Recess for at least a half hour
back to some semblance of work
recess for a half hour
lunch
eat a birthday cake to celebrate someone's birthday
Go home at 10:45
THAT was the whole school day. Many of the students in Costa Rica's public schools can hardly read by the time they are done with 6th grade. I can see why! No specials, no computers, no air conditioning, no soap, no glass in the windows. I DON"T want to hear any complaining about America's school system. If a student wants to learn...it's made available!
Today is our 2 year wedding anniversary :) Wednesday is Justin's birthday.
I will attempt to keep this blog up even after this trip to let everyone know what happens with selling our house and moving and all that.
Thank you Lord, for all the people who kept our house so clean and safe!

Giving Report: El Salvador & Costa Rica
Hey Friends,
I want to bring you up to date on the needs we have been able to meet in El Salvador and Costa Rica thanks to the Lord's leading and your generous giving! We have blessed the Body of Christ in these ways on YOUR behalf! Enjoy.
El Salvador
$160 to Donald Benner, founder of Hogar Infantil Shalom, which is a wonderful orphange in San Salvador that we had the privilege of spending a day at. He is 86 years old and we got to spend some nice time with he and his wife. They are dear saints and we were blessed to sow into this ministry.
$100 to Victor and Lynn Diaz, two Assemblies of God missionaries that we met in Rodolfo's apartment complex. They are medical missionaries who have been on the field for 32 years!
Costa Rica
$200 to Josiah and Cynthia Hubbard, our hosts and Four Square missionaries to the Cebacer tribe.
$75 to paint a mural at the local school here in Josiah and Cynthia's town - the name of the town escapes me. This little mural really brightens up the school and is visible from the main road. The children have loved having us there painting.
$664 to buy pastor Heiner and his wife Nelsie sound equiptment for their church. Heiner has been holding church services in town with a little keyboard with no sound system. The second night we were here he and I were sharing some music together and he began to tell me that when the people clap to the songs he can no longer here the keyboard. Right then the Lord showed me that He wanted us to meet this need.
So, Em and I went to a music store and were able to buy him a nice amp with two inputs, a mic, a mic stand and all the necessary chords. We blindfolded him and presented it all to him last night. He was so excited, like a little kid. He then told us how he had been asking for this for quite some time, but had not been able to find a way to raise the money. He prayed and it touched my heart to hear him give thanks. How wonderful it is to have had the opportunity to bless these dear saints on YOUR behalf!
Total Giving on this Trip: $1449.00
